Biographical Sketch:
Neil Bauman, Ph.D. (Dr. Neil) is a hearing loss coping skills specialist, researcher, author
and speaker on issues pertaining to hearing loss. Neil is no stranger to the
problems associated with hearing loss. He has successfully lived with a lifelong
severe hereditary hearing loss himself. He became an excellent speechreader at an early age, and practices numerous ways
to successfully cope with being hard-of-hearing in a hearing world.
Neil’s main focus is helping hard-of-hearing people effectively and successfully
adapt to their hearing loss, tinnitus, other phantom sounds and balance problems
while minimizing future damage to their ears—particularly from the effects of
ototoxic drugs.
A prolific writer, Dr. Bauman is the author of eleven books and more than 500
articles covering a broad range of hearing loss topics, including more than 100
articles related to ototoxic drugs. The third edition of his book, “Ototoxic Drugs Exposed,”
describes more than one thousand drugs,
herbals and chemicals that can (and do) damage ears.
He is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Hearing Loss Help. In
addition, Neil is an active member of both the Hearing Loss Association of
America (HLAA) and the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA).
