Univox Professional (PLS) Loop Systems

Univox Professional Loop Systems (PLS)

The PLS series of Univox loop amplifiers are designed for installation in churches, auditoriums, large meeting rooms, theaters, etc.

There are a number of these amplifiers ranging from the PLS-100 to the PLS-900 depending on the size and needs of the particular facility being looped.

To order any of these loop amplifiers, click on the model number of the loop amplifier you want to order.

Model Price Maximum Area Covered (in sq. ft) Max. length of
wire in loop (ft)*
Univox PLS-100 $847.00 1,800 170 - 220
Univox PLS-300 $1,047.00 3,200 230 - 306
Univox PLS-700 $1,747.00 7,000 340 - 530
Univox PLS-900 ** $2,047.00 7,000 340 - 530

* The maximum length of wire in the loop varies depending whether the room is a square (1st number) or a long rectangle (2nd number). This gives you an idea of approximately how much wire you might need depending on the room shape. The critical thing is the number of square feet the loop encompasses, not the actual length of the loop wire.

** The Univox PLS-900 is a higher powered version of the PLS-700. You may want to use it when you need a stronger signal to overcome a lot of metal near the loop, e.g. rebar in the floor, metal studs, etc.

Univox Professional Loop Amplifier Technical Specifications

Below are the technical specifications and installation details for each of the Univox loop amplifiers.

Here are four helpful articles related to installing loops.

1.  Points to consider in connection with looping a facility

2.  Points to consider when installing large amplifiers

3.  Installing Wire Loops for Amplifiers—Single, Double or Parallel Loops—
     Which?

4.  Installing a loop under existing carpeting

Room loops can carry quite a bit of current so you do not want to use too small a wire size for the size of the room and the power of the loop amplifier. Here is a Chart of the Recommended Wire Sizes for the Various Univox Amplifiers giving both the American Wire Gauge (AWG) sizes and metric equivalents.

If you are installing a loop system in a public building, here are a couple of signs you can print indicating that an audio loop system is installed.

Professional Field Strength Meter (FSM): You use this professional meter to determine the degree of magnetic interference that may be present in a room or building. Then, you use it to set and verify that the loop system output meets the International standards for loop systems.

Click here to see the specification sheet for this field strength meter.

Click here to purchase the Loop Field Strength Meter with small case. $499.00.

Professional Audio Test Signal Generator (TSG): This professional audio test signal generator produces an selectable audio test signal ranging from 80 Hz to 8,000 Hz as well as pink noise for inserting into the induction loop so accurate measurements can be made of the loop's performance using the (above) field strength meter.

Click here to see the instruction sheet for this audio test signal generator.

Click here to purchase the Audio Test Signal Meter. $319.00.

Purchase both the field strength meter and the audio test signal generator kit and save!  Bonus: when you purchase both together, you get an audio cable for the TSG and large case to hold both units. $799.00.

Click here to order the FSM/TSG and bonus items kit $799.00.
